v3.9.1 2026-07-04
Removed the Wrapped screen for now — but Vinyl keeps quietly recording your listening history in the background, so it can come back richer later.
Removed the Wrapped screen for now — but Vinyl keeps quietly recording your listening history in the background, so it can come back richer later.
NEW: Vinyl Wrapped. Open your Wrapped from your profile for a shareable recap of your listening — top artists, #1 song, minutes, and your listening 'vibe' — save it as an image and share it anywhere. Vinyl now also logs your play history so future Wrappeds get even richer.
Fixed the nav icons sometimes becoming unclickable after rapid clicking — the window-drag no longer triggers on a plain click, only when you actually drag the title bar.
Title bar: the Now Playing tab is now the clean white record icon (no wordmark text), with all the tabs evenly spaced.
Title bar tidy-up: brought back the white Vinyl wordmark next to the logo and evened out the spacing between the tabs.
Cleaner title bar: the Vinyl logo top-left is now the Now Playing button, with the other tabs (Following, Top 50, Profile, Settings) right beside it instead of over by the window buttons.
Fixed the 'listened' time getting cut off on the profile stat card — it now uses a compact format (38h 24m) that fits.
Vinyl is now a fixed-size player window — no more resizing or maximizing into a giant fullscreen app. It opens at a clean, compact size (and still fits smaller laptop screens).
Profile fixes: a long username no longer pushes the Follow button off-screen, the stat cards now shrink to fit smaller windows, and the Following list rows got the glass card style.
Lyrics feel smoother now: at the start of a song they gently glide up into place, and the scroll between lines is slower and calmer instead of snapping.
Polished the live lyrics: the current line stands out more, already-sung lines fade into a soft trail instead of a wall of colour, and lines dissolve smoothly at the edges.
Album covers now work for songs in any language (Russian, Japanese, etc.) — a bug was blocking non-English titles. Missing covers on your existing top songs get filled in automatically too.
Renamed Friends to Following (it's a one-way follow), and profiles now show a follower count.
Hotfix: v3.5.0 could fail to start on some installs (a missing bundled module). Fixed.
New: Friends. Follow people from their profile or the leaderboard, then see what everyone you follow is playing right now — live, in one feed. Vinyl is a social music app now.
Under-the-hood: downloads now count real new installs only (auto-updates no longer inflate the number).
Browser detection now only mirrors real music sites - no more random web audio showing up. SoundCloud is recognized instantly. Live 'listening right now' cards on profiles refresh much faster.
The leaderboard is now the Weekly Top 50 - a fresh race every week. Fixed a bug where one listen could count as two or three plays.
Beatdrops pump now - sustained loud sections can't pin the lights into one bright blob. New visualizer settings: Punch, Brightness, and a colour-shift-on-the-beat toggle.
Vinyl 3.0 - the visualizer got real. The lights and record lock onto the app your music is actually coming from, and a new beat engine makes kicks genuinely hit, even on loud modern masters.
Profiles glow in the colors of whatever that person is playing right now (or their top song). The spinning vinyl on Discord blends into the profile card. Cleaner settings, and bug reports from the Feedback section.
Live profiles: see what anyone is listening to right now - spinning cover, live progress bar, and an ambient tint from their album art. Live EQ dots on the Top 50. New privacy toggle in Settings.
